Aseel AlYaqoub is an interdisciplinary artist working mainly in sculpture and video. Her artwork inspects the past and how it emerges into the present. She uses nostalgia as a critical discourse through which she investigates the invention and reinvention of heritage and tradition. This often results in an examination of both the human need for conclusive stories and the question of how anecdotes come to represent history.
Aseel AlYaqoub (b. 1986) was born and raised in Kuwait. She graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in London with a BA in Interior and Spatial Design (2009). She later received a Master in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in New York (2015). She is currently based in London, UK.
